Candidate for Board of Zoning Appeals,
Jennifer Gundlach

From the Candidate

I’m originally from Missouri and when my husband and I found our house here in Warren nearly 15 years ago, I felt a special affinity because it reminded me of the wooded neighborhood where I grew up.  My family has benefited from all that our Town has to offer, such as attending concerts in Warren Woods, hiking on Warren Land Trust trails, and walking our dog with neighbors. I’ve also been invested in staying informed about decisions being made by our Town’s leadership by attending Selectmen’s meetings, referendums, and other Town-wide meetings. I’m grateful every day to call Warren my home, for the people I’ve come to know and love, and the beauty of our land.

I’m a lawyer and law professor and have spent much of my career representing people of modest means who are seeking justice in our court system. I teach law students about how to interpret and apply the law, as well as how to be ethically conscious lawyers. My professional expertise lies in understanding the importance of due process, as well as interpreting and fairly applying the law, while also being open-minded to individuals’ unique circumstances.

I’m running for the Board of Zoning Appeals because I’ve seen firsthand how zoning decisions can play an important role in managing the growth, safety, and identity of our beautiful Town. I want to do my part, when issues come before the Board, to thoroughly listen to varying viewpoints, consider the competing values at stake, and do my level best to make a fair and transparent decision. I hope to serve as a responsible steward of decisions that respect both our past and our future.
