Candidate for Board of Assessment Appeals,
Richard J. Scaldini
From the Candidate
I have been a full-time resident of Warren since 2008 with my wife, Arlene Bergenthal, and our son Benjamin Scaldini, who is now an audio engineer in Silver Spring, Maryland. In 2008, I also started my business, Scaldini Consulting, advising nonprofit and small business organizations in the Northwest Corner.
When Arlene and I acquired our home in 1988, we knew that Warren would always have an important place in our lives. We thrived on the beauty and calm of the town, its rich history. Despite its small size, Warren always has something to discover: a site or a story that binds you still closer.
Regarding my qualifications, I have enjoyed careers in international finance and education. They have given me ample experience in valuation, but that is not the whole story.
I decided to run for the Board of Assessment Appeals because we live at a time when the cohesiveness of our communities is threatened by the domination of partisanship over the spirit of public service. I want to put the emphasis back onto service, regardless of party or opinion – mine or my neighbor’s.
The point for me is to know the work, to do it well, and to ensure an appeal process that my friends and neighbors consider fair and consistent. In turn, seeing this, I hope that residents of the next generation will feel that public service is worthwhile and essential to maintaining the community in which they thrive.
